Regis University added a five-story, 36,820 square foot addition to the DeSmet Hall freshman dorm, doubling the size of the existing 50,000 square foot building. The $20.5 million renovation expansion adds 104 new beds, student lounges, classrooms, and an elevator.
Kenny Electric was responsible for installing the main electrical, lighting, and controls. The job required some demo work and rework for new connections to the present building fire alarm system, including a RATH® Area-of-Refuge Two-Way Communication System and Bi-Directional Amplification (BDA) system, as well as a 100Kw generator. Time was of the essence, and installing and testing the BDA system needed to be complete before the students returned to campus for the fall semester.
